Cover Design Book

Köln is a Jeföhl
Cover Design Competition

This Graphic Design work was created for the 100th anniversary publication of GAG Immobilien AG. The task was to design the cover for the publication and show the main aspects Cologne stands for. We came up with two concepts.

Cologne is a diva. On first sight she gives you the cold shoulder. Due to her rough surface she scares the visitors off in first place: cold beton, steel bridges and construction areas. The question arises »Why is everybody still so proud to live in Cologne?« To actually understand Cologne, you have to move the rough beton surface and discover the people behind. It is the open-minded and manifold people that give Cologne its beauty. With the look and feel of the beton on the cover you can discover not only visual but also haptical. In contrast to that, the people shimmer on glossy paper.

The GAG is an image for a wide range of apartments and a strong network within the city. People from different cultural backgrounds, nationalities and religions are given a home in Cologne. As a result of abstraction and the use of different coatings Cologne is tangible. Places of interest function as orientation and points of reference.
